The most-streamed music video by a deceased artist is by Swedish DJ and producer Avicii. His track Wake Me Up(Positiva/PRMD) set a record as the U.K.’s fastest-selling single of 2013, debuting at No. 1 on July 21 with nearly 267,000 sales.

Six years after Avicii’s tragic death, Netflix has released two documentaries, Avicii: I’m Tim and Avicii: My Last Show, providing new insights into his life, career, and struggles.

Born Tim Bergling, Avicii rose to fame with hits like Levels and Wake Me Up, earning Grammy nominations and global success. However, the pressures of fame took a toll on his mental and physical health, leading to his retirement from touring in 2016. He battled acute pancreatitis, alcohol dependency, and anxiety, seeking balance in his life.

While vacationing in Oman in April 2018, Avicii died by suicide at age 28. His family described him as a “fragile artistic soul” who struggled with stress and existential questions. His final journal entry suggested he was searching for peace.

His passing shocked the music world, prompting tributes from major artists. Despite his struggles, Avicii’s legacy lives on through his music and ongoing discussions about mental health in the entertainment industry.
