Kevin Gates’ ‘Luca Brasi 3’ Mixtape Shines with 14 New RIAA Gold And Platinum Certifications

Louisiana-born rapper Kevin Gates known received 14 new Recording Industry Association (RIAA) certifications on October 2, 2023 for tracks on his 16 mixtape Luca Brasi 3. Among them were 8 Gold certifications for the singles that sold 500,000 equivalent units in sales and streams in the U.S. including “Adding Up” , “Servin H”, “I Got U”,”Don’t Know”, “Discussion”,”Shakin Back”, “Tryna Yea”,”Money Long”.

He also earned Platinum certifications for the singles “Great Man”,”In God I Trust”, “Shoulda”, “Find You Again” and 2x Platinum for “Me Too”.

“Luca Brasi 3” released via Bread Winners and Atlantic Records was also Certified Platinum for selling one million units in streams and sales in the U.S.

The project is the third installment in the Luca Brasi series released September 28, 2018, he second mixtape that year, following Chained to the City, which came just four months prior. It entered the US Billboard 200 chart at number four, amassing 78,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, including 18,000 copies sold.

This achievement marked Gates’ third top-ten album on the chart. The mixtape also secured the No. 3 spot on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Within a year on July 9, 2019, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the mixtape Gold, for combined sales and album-equivalent units surpassing 500,000 in the United States.

Although 13 singles have gone Gold and Platinum, the full length project was initially only promoted by the four singles; “Great Man” and “Money Long,” released first on September 3, 2018 followed by music videos for both songs September 13, 2018, and “Great Man” on October 31, 2018.

The third single, “Me Too,” dropped on September 20, 2018, while the fourth single, “Adding Up,” made its debut on September 24, 2018. The accompanying music video for “Adding Up” was released on September 28, 2018.

Later On December 3, 2018, the music video for “M.A.T.A” was released, and “Discussion” received its own music video on December 19, 2018.
