According to Houston Police Chief Troy Finner, a security guard at Friday’s deadly Astroworld Festival was injected with drugs while attempting to restrain a patron.
“One of the narratives was that some individual was injecting other people with drugs. We do have a report of a security officer, according to the medical staff that was out and treated him last night, that he was reaching over to restrain or grab a citizen when he felt a prick in his neck. When he was examined, he went unconscious, they administered Narcan (Naloxone) (and) he was revived. The medical team did notice a prick that was similar to a prick somebody would get if they’re trying to inject (you). That is one part of it. The other thing that’s very important (is that) there were some individuals that were trampled, and we wanna be respectful of that but we just ask that you give us time to do a proper investigation. Live Nation (the co-organisers of the event) have stated from the very beginning that they will cooperate,”
he said during a press briefing yesterday.
Just under two days after the show, more people have been calling for Travis Scott to be arrested, especially after learning that a 14-year-old was among the fatalities.
TMZ is reporting that 14-year-old John Hilgert lost his life at the Festival.
Additionally 27-year-old Danish Baig, 21-year-old Franco Patino, a senior at the Univ. of Dayton in Ohio, 16-year-old Brianna Rodriguez, a junior high school student, and 23-year-old Rudy Pena were also victims of the stage surge.
Official reports have suggested that a criminal investigation has now been launched into the casualties.
Meanwhile, Kylie Jenner, Scott’s baby mother took to Instagram on Saturday night to express regret.
“Travis and I are broken and devastated. My thoughts and prayers are with all who lost their lives, were injured or were affected in any way by yesterday’s (Friday’s) events. And also for Travis who I know cares deeply for his fans and the Houston community. I want to make it clear we weren’t aware of any fatalities until the news came out after the show, and in no world would have continued filming or performing. I am sending my deepest condolences to all the families during this difficult time and will be praying for healing of everyone who has been impacted,” she wrote.
This was the third staging of the event that was set for two days. However, after Friday’s tragedy, the second day was cancelled.
