Shenseea has made history by winning the 2025 MOBO Award for Best Caribbean Music Act, becoming the first female Jamaican artist to win a MOBO Award and receive a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album in the same year.
This marks her second MOBO Award, following her 2021 win for Best Reggae Act, where she triumphed over Spice, Sean Paul, Popcaan, Skillibeng, and Lila Iké. At the time, she became the first woman to win the award, which had been exclusively awarded to male artists since its inception in 1996.
With the Best Reggae Act category now rebranded as Best Caribbean Music Act, Shenseea secured her 2025 victory against a strong lineup of nominees, including Popcaan, Skillibeng, Spice, Valiant, and YG Marley.
The 2025 MOBO Awards, live from Newcastle’s Utilita Arena on 18 is hosted by the dynamic duo Eddie Kadi and Indiyah Polack. It’s a celebration of the UK’s biggest in Black music and culture.

As previously reported, Vybz Kartel has made history as the first Jamaican artist to receive the MOBO Impact Award, recognizing his significant influence on music and culture.
The Dancehall icon, who was released from prison in July 2024, was also nominated for Best Reggae Album for his EP Party With Me, but lost to Bob Marley: One Love Music Inspired By The Film.
The MOBO Awards, will also honour Dame Denise Lewis DBE with the MOBO Paving The Way Award. Founder & CEO Kanya King CBE praised Kartel’s immeasurable impact on music, noting that his influence extends far beyond dancehall.
