World Music Views Celebrates 5 Years Of Covering Music Business

World Music Views® turns 5 today April 10, 2023. The global music business magazine and chart show that feature articles on music finance, industry, investing, marketing and other music related news is the brainchild of author and Editor In Chief Donovan Watkis.

Island Records co-founder Chris Blackwell, Donovan Watkis (WMV Images).

WMV’s chart show aired on TVJ during ER for four years as the first and only television show that covers music streaming in Latin America & The Caribbean. A radio version of the WMV® Chart Show was also launched on June 8, 2018 and broadcasted on Nottingham U.K.’s 97.5.

“When we started carrying the music streams on television, the only platforms that were in Jamaica were YouTube and Tidal. Within 5 years we helped to usher in and integrate Apple Music, Spotify which are now complimentary services for YouTube,” Donovan Watkis says.

“We also covered the value and power of TikTok for the reggae and dancehall music market with explainer videos and marketing ideas for artists which has really helped artists to better understand the paltform to rack up streams,” he continued.

Since the initial April 10, 2018 launch,WMV® has recorded over 400 video episodes, that reached over 3 million people weekly across platforms.

Over the years our business focused articles and podcast content have been syndicated and temporarily licensed to publications locally and across the world covering everything from legal cases, NFTs, awards, exclusives, concerts, album reviews and more.

“We thank our guests and data friends, partners and liaisons from especially the IFPI, RIAA, Luminate and the Grammyswho give us credible weekly with up to the minute data on the important global music happenings. The IFPI’s Global Music Report and Engaging With Music report helped our audience to understand Reggae and Dancehall is consumed in relation to other genres globally,” Watkis noted.

“We most of all thank our dedicated audience who keep up to date with music business via WMV®
