Rebel Time By Sean Paul x Beres Hammond

World Music Views first reported a month ago that Sean Paul and Beres Hammond will be teaming up for a new song after our exclusive interview with music photographer William Richards who revealed the details.

The song titled “Rebel Time” which swings the usually high tempo Sean Paul over to a Lover’s Rock Groove is set for release next Friday May 5 via Ineffable Records. Sean took to instagram to share a teaser with him showing the veteran singer Beres Hammond a few moves with the caption:

“We got the one an only Beres Hammond on our new chune #RebelTime dropping May 5th, when was the last time U heard a lovers rock record like this???”

Chi Ching Ching, Jesse Royal and Hammond himself have all given the song a stamp of approval with fire emojis in anticipation of Friday’s release.

Sean Paul is the high selling dancehall artist of all time while Beres Hammond 67, is one of the best vocalist in Jamaica’s musical history. He is known to deliver timely, well paced set of hits throughout the years with dancehall collaborations like Buju Banton, Dutty Ranks and most recently Popcaan for “God Is Love.”

God Is Love is at 41 for most streamed song on YouTube in Jamaica of all time(since 2014). The song spent 3 weeks at No. 1 the island’s YouTube weekly chart.

During the pandemic Hammond did a live for Television “Love From A Distance” concert which was live streamed on YouTube.

Voted by WMV the best reggae concert of 2021, the Step Aside Now singer reminded everyone why he is the man virtually or live in February that year. The show was well rehearsed and featured guest appearances from Popcaan, Marcia Griffiths and Buju Banton. He delivered hit after hit for two solid hours with a peak virtual attendance of 125,000 live viewers on YouTube and recorded close to 500,000 views within eight hours of the original stream.

Always in fine form Beres took it over the edge when he performed Sweet LiesGroovy Little ThingKid’s PlaySweetnessI Could Beat Myself and Full Attention  and a new song “God is Love” with Popcaan which is now the 20th most streamed song in Jamaica this year.
