According to a Variety report, the Recording Academy confirmed that the Way Too Sexy rapper withdrew his two Grammy nominations for the 2022 Grammy awards.

No reason was given for the withdrawal but Drizzy was nominated for Best Rap Album for his “Certified Lover Boy” album and Best Rap Performance for his song “Way 2 Sexy” (featuring Future and Young Thug).

Drake has had several contentions with the Academy over the years. In 2018, he refused to to submit More Life for Grammy consideration and did not attend the ceremony. Per Billboard Magazine.

The following year he turned up to the show to collect his award for best rap song (“God’s Plan”). He famously said “What once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to [contemporary] artists,” is response to the Grammys commission of The Weeknd in 2020.

He threw further shade during his acceptance speech in 2019 as he collect Best Rap Song for God’s plan,

“We play an opinion-based sport, not a factual-based sport, you already won if you have people singing your songs word for word, if they’re singing in your hometown. You’re already winning, you don’t need this right here.”

Variety report that The Recording Academy will give the nomination slot now made available to the recipient of the sixth-most votes, but instead will go keep just four nominees.

Voting has begun for the 64th annual Grammy awards beginning Monday morning with Drake absent from the ballots.
