Major Lazer, the trio deeply rooted in Jamaican-American electronic dance music and Drum & Bass DJ culture, has surpassed 10 billion streams on Spotify. It’s the first Jamaican red group to reach the milestone. The top streaming party starters consists of the renowned record producer Diplo, alongside DJs Walshy Fire and Ape Drums traces back to Kingston, Jamaica, where it was established in 2008 by Diplo and Switch. However, Switch departed from the trio in 2011, leading to the entrance of Jillionaire and Walshy Fire as replacements. In June 2019, Jillionaire also departed, leaving space for Ape Drums to join the ensemble.

Their musical style defies boundaries with various collaborations  from all over the world, effortlessly blending reggae, dancehall, reggaeton, soca, house, and moombahton.

Their top songs on Spotify are ‘Lean On’ with 1.8 billion streams, ‘Cold Water’ (feat. Justin Bieber & MØ) with 1.4 billion, “Light It Up – Remix” with Nyla and Fuse OGD.

Major Lazer boasts an impressive discography, with four full-length albums to their name: “Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do” (2009), “Free the Universe” (2013), “Peace Is the Mission” (2015), and “Music Is the Weapon” (2020). Additionally, they’ve released six EPs, including “Apocalypse Soon” (March 2014), which featured collaborations with notable artists like Pharrell Williams and Sean Paul, and “Know No Better” (2017), which showcased appearances from Camila Cabello, Quavo, Travis Scott, J Balvin, and others.

Major Lazer’s influence extends beyond their own projects, as they played a pivotal role in producing Snoop Dogg’s debut reggae album, “Reincarnated,” released under his “Snoop Lion” persona.

Their significant impact on the music scene was underscored when Billboard ranked Major Lazer at number five in their 2018 Billboard Dance 100 ranking of dance musicians.
