Young Thug’s ongoing YSL RICO trial continues to be marred by drama and controversy.

Inn the latest development, Lil Woody spent the weekend in jail after refusing to testify last week, despite having an immunity deal contingent on his testimony. Legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff reported that he returned to the stand on Tuesday (June 11) and fired his lawyer in front of the judge. When asked how he wished to proceed, Woody stated, “She fired. I don’t want her.”

Earlier in the week, another significant incident occurred. Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, was taken into custody and held in contempt during a court session on Monday (June 10). Steel confronted Judge Ural Glanville for privately meeting with prosecutors and one of the state’s star witnesses before court. When questioned about his source of this information, Steel refused to disclose it. Consequently, he was ordered to spend the next 10 weekends in the Fulton County Jail.

Before leaving the courtroom, Steel argued that he “was not supposed to have communication with a witness who’s been sworn,” referring to Lil Woody’s upcoming testimony. After Steel was removed, DA Adriane Love requested that he be allowed to return for the remainder of the day’s proceedings, and he was eventually permitted back in.

In a related development, YFN Lucci will not be testifying in Young Thug’s RICO trial, as confirmed by the prosecution on June 5, 2024.

Regarding Lil Woody, he invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination during his initial testimony last week, even refusing to answer basic questions like his age. The judge found him in willful contempt of court, given the immunity deal offered in exchange for his testimony against Thug. In response, Steel filed a motion for a mistrial.
