Stefflon Don’s dancehall driven debut album, Island 54, has surpassed 10 million streams on Spotify. Released on June 28, 2028, via 54 London, the album features singles such as “Whats Poppin” featuring BNXN (7.9 million streams), “Intergalactic” (1.2 million streams), and “Dilemma” featuring Sidhu Moose Walla (2.4 million streams). These three singles, released ahead of the album, constitute the majority of its overall first-week streams, with the other tracks garnering less than 100,000 streams each as of July 4, 2024.
The album charted at No. 6 on Spotify’s UK Top Albums chart but missed the UK’s Top 100 mid-week chart, which is compiled by the Official Charts Company and based on sales of CDs, downloads, vinyl, audio streams, and video streams. This suggests that Island 54 may not make the full week’s Official Charts to be published on Friday.
On YouTube, “Dilemma” featuring Sidhu Moose Walla was the 9th most viewed music video in Canada over the past week, accumulating just under 500,000 views in the country. Globally, “Dilemma” has 8 million views on YouTube, with 4 million of those coming from India since its release last Monday (June 24).
The 19 track set which got a 4 star rating by WMV, is being distributed by BMG Rights management globally after the British dancehall singer signed a partnership with the German owned company two years ago. The partnership caused the delay of Island 54, which was initially scheduled for August 2022, then September, then again in early 2023.
BMG oversee the album’s release with a focus on the UK despite being signed out of the LA office. “Island 54 follows Stefflon Don’s other successful mixtapes, Real Ting (2016) and Secure (2018). The latter peaked at No. 35 on the UK Official Albums Chart and has 82 million streams globally. While “Real Ting” which has her breakout single “16 Shots” has surpassed 259 million.
Stefflon Don has achieved a total of 10 singles on the UK Singles Chart throughout her career. Her biggest hit, “Hurting Me” featuring French Montana, peaked at No. 7 and remained on the chart for an impressive 27 weeks.
Despite her previous success, none of the singles on her debut album made the Mid-week singles chart.
