Supermodel Tyson Beckford Comes Out In Support Of Dancehall Artist Skeng After Guyana Bans Jamaican Artists

American supermodel Tyson Beck has come out in support of dancehall artist Skeng, after Guyana’s Home Affairs Minister Robeson Benn said, neither his ministry nor the police will approve anymore permits for Skeng and others like him to perform in the island publicly.

This after shots rang out at the National Park at the “Badderation” event while the Spanish Town DJ was performing his street hit Protocol.

Skeng

Beckford, always in tuned with Jamaican culture commented under a post on Instagram from a media outlet that Skeng, “don’t need Guyanese market $$ to survive! Dem can kiss off. Skeng will be successful regardless of dem people.”

Beckford, whose parents are Jamaican, was named “Man Of The Year” in 1995 by VH1 and one of the “50 Most Beautiful People in The Word” by People Magazine, was also one of the leading pop culture figures in the fashion industry for the greater part of twenty years, having appeared in numerous music videos, TV commercials, and movies including Troix 2: Pandora’s Box, Addicted and Chocolate City.

He has been described as one of the most successful black male supermodels of all time, achieving fame and huge contracts similar to the female models that had huge success in the 1990s.

Meanwhile, President of the Caribbean Employers’ Confederation, Wayne Chen upon hearing news of the Skeng ban recalls a “Dominican Minister” telling him, “she was protecting her young people from negative influences and wasn’t too concerned about right of free movement of musicians under CSME treaty agreement,” as that country banned Vybz Kartel in 2010.

As Skeng’s impact on the music market increase, he has drawn the attention of international artists like Nicki Minaj.

Minaj gave him a solid endorsement for both Protocol and Gvnman Shift, calling the former the “baddest chune in a while.”

She posted fire emojis on YouTube in the comments section of the video upload along with lyrics from the song:

“Dem nah run dem blokk When we pull up them affi run lef dat  PROTOCOL WE HAVE  STRAP. Baddest song to come out in years “

The video for the Jamaican chart topper, directed by The Trueyez Films features prominently a NYPD patrol car in the streets of New York City, where Skeng and his crew flex lyrics matching gun talk and gun showing.

The Hip Hop Queen also posted a video on her instagram for her 193 million followers as she sings Skeng’s other YouTube chart topper Street Cred which peaked at number 3 on the World Music Views YouTube chart with the caption “Gvnman- dat sweet me 🍬”

Persons commented, “Mami know di words enu I love this for skeng 🥰” and others in disbelief said, “Bomboclaat!! Omg sis is listening to Skeng 🥲🔥.”
