Ghana’s self-proclaimed king of dancehall Shatta Wale came into the music business crying the stayers and sounds of Jamaican music, amassing numerous awards, a prolific discography, and a huge fanbase fan base. He even scored a feature with Beyoncé who he says he now calls “Mommy.”
He was crowned Artist Of The Year at the Ghana Music Awards in the U.K. and he now join forces with Nigerian talents Tekno and Bankuli to create a new direction with his first Afrobeats album, titled ‘Konekt’ with the first single titled ‘Incoming’.
With the single he said, “just entered the Afrobeats market properly.”

In Shatta Wale’s words to the BBC’s ‘This Is Africa’ Podcast, ‘I aim to take a more positive approach in my artistic journey. I want to radiate love, showcase my lighter side, share moments of humor and happiness with people. I want everyone to recognize that I am content now and eager to spread that joy worldwide. Afrobeats is currently thriving, and I want to stay aligned with the latest trends. Shout out to Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, and Tiwa Savage.’
“It’s like I’ve graduated from dancehall,” he said. “I just want to feed the fans with what is currently happening so they can all enjoy good music.”
‘Incoming’, released 13 days ago has just over 500 thousand streams on Spotify is undeniably a compelling song, and Shatta Wale is likely to attract new admirers as he embarks on this new musical journey.”
He said he wants to show his happy side on the upcoming album as he put the tough guy persona behind him.
