Brazilian sensation Anitta‘s 6th studio album, “Funk Generation,” will finally be released date in April 26 via Republic Records and Universal Music Latin Entertainment. Anitta already gave fans to a taste of what’s to come with her latest single, “Double Team,” featuring Brray and Bad Gyal, accompanied by an enticing and fun music video.
In a press statement in March , Anitta opened up about the inspiration behind “Funk Generation,” describing it as a homage to her roots, “with the power of Rio’s funk in every track- unique, danceable, and sensual beats.”
The statement continued, “It’s a rhythm born in the favelas, where I grew up, exuding resistance and art in every community.”
She emphasized the album’s exploration of Rio de Janeiro’s funk, showcasing its unique blend of danceable and sensual beats. For Anitta, this rhythm holds personal significance, harking back to her upbringing in the favelas, where it serves as a beacon of resistance and artistic expression within communities. With “Funk Generation,” she aims to challenge the stigma surrounding this genre in Brazil while propelling it to international recognition. Collaborations with key artists enrich the album, allowing Anitta to weave a compelling narrative that reflects her journey. Her hands-on approach to production and visual direction ensures that the final product stays true to her vision.
The journey to Anitta’s “Funk Generation” began last year with the release of “Funk Generation: A Favela Story” which celebrates her roots in carioca funk, the rhythm that shaped her Brazilian upbringing. The trilogy, including the tracks “Funk Rave” and new tracks “Casi Casi” and “Used To Be.”
That release marked her debut with Republic Records, following her departure from Warner Music earlier in the year.
