Xxxtentacion continues to stack up certifications posthumously in the U.K. with the latest being the global crossover track “Arms Around You” by with Lil Pump featuring Maluma and Swae Lee becoming certified Gold. The song produced by Jon Fx, Skrillex and Mallie Mall was certified by the British Phonographic Industry for selling and streaming 400,000 units as measured by the Official Charts Company. It was perviously certified Silver for selling 200,000 units on February 19, 2022.
“Arms Around You” peaked at No. 14 on the U.K. singles chart and No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as No. 13 on the Canadian Hot 100.
“He is actually like Kurt Cobain, he mostly discussed Rock N Roll,” FX told WMV about working with Xxxtentacion.
“Arms Around You” has been streamed 550 million times on Spotify and originally had Jamaican singles Daville who made way for Rio Santana because it wad a demo for another song. “I had recorded and later asked Daville to record it. I used Rio Santana because of the international appeal and Jahseh later put a verse on it for me.”
After Xxxtentacion died Lil Pump reached out to his X mother wanting to pay tribute to the artist according to a report by Rap-up.com.
The lyric video for the latin, alternative, hip-hop, and pop track has surpassed 74 million views while the official music video directed by James Lerese with an animated Xxxtentacion has surpassed 365 million views on YouTube.
Since its October 25, 2018 release the song has earned certifications in various regions around the world including Australia, it has been certified Platinum with 70,000 units or sales. In Denmark, it has received a Gold certification with 45,000 units or sales. In France, the album has achieved Platinum certification with 200,000 units or sales, while in Germany it has earned a Gold certification with the same number of units or sales.
In Italy, the album has been certified Platinum with 50,000 units or sales. In New Zealand, it has received a Gold certification with 15,000 units or sales. Poland has awarded the album with a Gold certification, representing 25,000 units or sales. Portugal has certified the album Platinum with 10,000 units or sales. Finally, in the United States, the album has achieved Platinum certification with an 1,000,000 units or sales.
