Arsenal’s historic double trophy celebrations took over the streets of North London on Sunday, May 31, as hundreds of thousands of supporters lined a five-mile route in Islington to honor both the club’s Premier League-winning men’s team and the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup champions.
The massive open-top bus parade began and ended at the Emirates Stadium, creating an unforgettable atmosphere as players from both squads showcased their silverware to jubilant fans. Men’s captain Martin Ødegaard and midfield star Declan Rice proudly displayed the Premier League trophy, while Arsenal Women received thunderous applause for their remarkable Champions Cup triumph.
One of the standout moments of the day came when members of the Arsenal Women’s team were seen dancing and singing along to Jamaican dancehall star Spice’s global anthem So Mi Like It. The infectious dancehall track energized supporters throughout the parade and provided a fitting soundtrack to the celebrations, with players getting into the groove of the dance-floor hit. The official Instagram handle of the UK sports team posted a video with the caption “Flow state.”
The song’s appearance at one of football’s biggest victory parades comes nearly two years after the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) awarded So Mi Like It a Brit Certified Silver certification, in August 2024, recognizing more than 200,000 units sold in the UK.
Released independently in 2014, So Mi Like It became a defining anthem in Spice’s career and remains one of the most successful dancehall songs of the modern era. The certification marked the Jamaican entertainer’s first career award in the UK.
While celebrations dominated the day, authorities were forced to intervene on several occasions to ensure public safety amid the enormous crowds. The London Fire Brigade reported rescuing approximately 75 supporters who had climbed onto dangerous structures and elevated positions to gain a better view of the parade.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that 24 arrests were made during the event for a variety of offenses.
Despite the security challenges, the parade was widely viewed as a tremendous success, with supporters packing streets across Islington to celebrate one of the most memorable seasons in Arsenal’s history. Live performances from artists including Sophie Ellis-Bextor added to the festive atmosphere as fans cheered their champions throughout the day.
For Spice, the viral parade moment served as yet another reminder of the lasting impact of So Mi Like It. More than a decade after its release, the dancehall anthem continues to resonate globally, soundtracking celebrations from clubs and festivals to one of the largest football victory parades ever witnessed in North London.
