Safai Kelly, Daughter Of Dancehall Producer Dave Kelly Got Engaged In Italy, Cham Sends Congrats

Daughter of producer Dave Kelly, Safai got engaged in Venice Italy recently to athlete boyfriend Krys Negron. The waterfront engagement saw Negron going on his knees to surprise Kelly with the question while having glasses on wine.

He nervously said while on his knees, “I got. question for you, we’ve been talking about, I don’t know if we gonna find a day that we ready but will you marry me?”

She accepted his proposal with a resounding “Yes”

He also posted on Instagram that, “I may never find the right words to describe the amount of love I have for you, but luckily I will have the rest of my life to try ❤️✨💍”.

“Thank you @sharicakes @heeeymaaan for helping making this possible and everyone that has given us their prayers along the way,” he continued.

 

In sharing her excitement the Jamaican born social media influencer posted,

“I would say yes every single time!

Safai told World Music Views exclusively that her fiance Krys started dating in 2019.

“He is from Puerto Rico and lives in Miami and has been training for the Major League Baseball since he was 3yrs old,” she said. “He went to college in Maryland to a D1 school and transferred his last year back to Miami, which is when we met. In his last season he go a serious injury to his shoulder. He was a top pitcher. Now he’s focused on healing and has learned a great deal on the stock market and has set some new goals for himself,” she continued.

The picture perfect proposal happened in Venice Italy on the rooftop of their hotel with a perfect European winter sunset backdrop.

The could are yet to decide on a date but she said,

“I’m on cloud nine and still in shock! I had no idea but he had been working on this for some time. I couldn’t be more grateful and happy.”

When asked what her father and family think of her pending nuptials she said,

“My parents already knew. Krys asked for my hand in marriage a few months before our trip to Italy. Everyone is happy for us and overjoyed with the news. It’s great that my only grandmother (on my moms side) is able to cherish this beautiful moment.”

Dancehall hitmaker Baby Cham sent congratulations to her via instagram with the comment, “Congratulations Safai 🥂🍾❤️🙏🏾”,

Singer Aisha Davis also chimed in with congrats “Awww congratulations sweetie ✨💍❤️”.

The makeup influencer told World Music Views three years ago that her Jamaican heritage benefits her both in her professional and private life.

“I find my life is more enriched, culture is a hell of a thing and it’s sets me a part from other people in my career”.

Although her father is one of the most influential producers in dancehall and reggae culture and her maternal Grandfather is singer Barry Biggs, the young Kelly says, “I will always love music, music is in my blood but I cant dream of beats like my dad, my dad will wake up out of his sleep with a beat, or he just imagines the beats, that is not where my mind is creatively. I visualize looks on the canvas, on the face, thats where my creativity falls.”

“I definitely get my creativity from my dad,” she continued.

Dave Kelly rose to dominance in the early 90s with Penthouse before branching off to his own Madhouse productions and has released some of the most popular and influential dancehall riddims such as “Joyride,” “Showtime,” “Fiesta”, and “85”. He produced Beenie Man‘s international hit “Dude” featuring Ms. Thing which peaked at 26 on the Billboard hot 100 chart. The 2003 “Fiesta” riddim, was featured on Beenie Man’s album Back to Basics and Baby Cham‘s major hit “Ghetto Story”.  He recently produced “Blessed” which was Buju Banton’s lead single for the Grammy nominated album Upside Down 2020.
