KINGSTON, Jamaica — November 1, 2026: Tragedy struck the Scream Halloween Festival on Saturday night after a male bar staff member was allegedly electrocuted and collapsed while on duty at the event’s Mas Camp venue and later died in hospital.
Organisers of the popular Halloween event confirmed the death in an official statement issued Sunday, November 1, expressing deep sadness over the incident.
According to the statement, the employee was carrying out his duties when he suddenly collapsed, prompting an emergency response.
Multiple reports from patrons who attended the event confirm with WMV that the young man was electrocuted due to an unattended live wire.
However, the official circumstances surrounding his collapse and the cause of death have not yet been disclosed.
Paramedics were reportedly alerted immediately and attended to the worker before transporting him to hospital for further medical treatment. Despite efforts to save his life, he subsequently passed away.
In their statement, organisers extended condolences to the deceased worker’s family, friends and colleagues, describing the incident as a devastating tragedy.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, loved ones, colleagues, and friends of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement read.
Organisers also disclosed that they have met with the deceased’s family, employer and security personnel as efforts continue to provide support and address the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Organisers Address Safety Concerns
Amid concerns surrounding the tragedy, Scream Halloween Festival organisers maintained that safety and the well-being of staff and patrons remain top priorities.
They stated that all necessary checks and inspections had been conducted by the relevant authorities before the event to ensure a safe working environment.
The organisers further confirmed that the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the worker’s death.
They pledged full cooperation with investigators and urged members of the public to refrain from speculation while the authorities work to establish the facts.
“We understand that emotions are heightened and that there is considerable speculation surrounding the incident,” the statement said.
