Dancehall artist Skeng’s debut Ep. “Beast Of The Era” made its day 1 entry at No. 1 on the Reggae iTunes Chart.
BOTE is also no. 2 on iTunes Trinidad and Tobago and No. 25 in the middle eastern country Cyprus.
Skeng, real name Kevon Douglas launched the much anticipated project last evening at “The Lot” Constant Spring Road, St. Andrew to a packed crowd of supporters, media and industry insiders.
Producer Rvssian gifted the deejay a Rolex watch to congratulate Skeng on the independent release and give him kudos for the work he has been putting into the industry.
Rvssian produced two tracks on the project “It’s True” with Shenseea and “Thug Life”. The all new six track Ep. ‘Beast Of The Era’ features all new music produced by John Coop, Di Truth, and Droptop Records.
With his publishing secured by Geejam Songs, Skeng executively produced “Beast Of The Era” on his RG Music (Ratty Gang Music) label. He says about working with the producers on the project, “Working with the mandem (at) my age is important for the sound and vibe I want. We ago grow and set tings differently in dancehall.”
All 6 songs will be accompanied by music videos to be released in November.
Earlier this year after dropping his Nicki Minaj collab Likkle Miss Remix, Skeng peaked at No. 175 on the global digital artist ranking list.
The Protocol artist is the only Jamaican to make the list of 200 artists ranked based on points from digital streams this year. He earned most of his song streams from the singles Talibhan, Gvnman Shift, Protocol and Likkle Miss from 27 Caribbean small island countries and via Apple Music; Skeng scored a total of 190 points total at his peak.
Sean Paul previously ranked at No. 20 on the Global Digital Artist in 2017. The chart is measured by an artist’s presence on iTunes and streaming charts around the world.
Skeng’s top song Protocol peaked at No. 1 on The World Music Views YouTube Charts and spent 27 weeks on the YouTube weekly chart. In Jamaica alone the TrueEyez directed music video has so far racked up 13,765,028 streams on YouTube.
Cumulatively the music video has 42 million views.
