Lover’s rock icon Beres Hammond’s compilation album Can’t Stop A Man surpasses 100 million streams on Spotify—his most-streamed project to date and the first of his albums to cross the nine-figure threshold on the platform.
Originally released via VP Records on November 4, 2003, Can’t Stop A Man is an expansive 39-track double-disc retrospective that chronicles more than four decades of Hammond’s artistry. The anthology offers a panoramic view of his catalog, featuring signature hits such as “Tempted to Touch,” “Rockaway,” “They Gonna Talk,” and “What One Dance Can Do,” along with deeper cuts and collaborations with reggae luminaries including U-Roy, Buju Banton, Marcia Griffiths, and Big Youth.
Executive produced by Rob Kenner, Murray Elias, Edwin Howell, and Christopher Chin of VP Records, the album stands among the top ten most streamed reggae compilations by a Jamaican artist.
Threaded with early classics like “One Step Ahead” and “Groovy Little Thing,” Can’t Stop A Man also showcases the spiritual undercurrent of Hammond’s music, evident in songs like “Giving Thanks” and “Call on the Father.” His influence runs deep—not through Billboard chart placements or Grammy wins, but through the lives his music has touched. Sold-out performances at Madison Square Garden’s Theater and numerous festivals have built an intergenerational fan base on connection rather than commercial hype.
“I don’t sing for charts, I sing for hearts,” Hammond told Billboard.“
Hammond’s “Forever Giving Thanks Tour” which ran from April 13 to August 25, 2024 was one of the most successful reggae tours last year. He is set to headline Best Of The Best with Buju Banton on May 25.
