Billboard Afrobeat & Reggae Chart Update

Tems, Burna Boy

  • Calm Down Remix by Rema and Selena Gomez debuts at number 1 on the US Afrobeat Chart this week while Burna Boy rises in multiple genres and on multiple charts.
  • Tems has three songs in the top ten on the Afrobeat Chart.
  • Ed Sheeran has two top ten Afrobeat features.

The African Giant’s smash hit Last Last slips to no. 2 after spending 7 weeks at No. 1. The song spends 16 weeks on the chart. Burna has 10 songs on the US Afrobeat chart and his album Outside lands at No. 10 on the Billboard reggae chart.

Other song on the Afrobeat Chart is Free Mind by Tems at number 3, Essence by Wizkid, Justin Beiber, and Tems at no. 4. The song was recently called the greatest song every made by Kanye West via his instagram. Love Nwantitti by Ckay which is now Double Platinum in the Netherlands come in at no. 5. It is the first Afrobeats record to attain the certification status. Peru by Fireboy DML & Ed Sheeran is at no. 6.

Ku Lo Sa by Oxlade is at #7 and debuts at #194 on the global Spotify chart with 827K streams.

For My Hand Burna Boy Featuring Ed Sheeran is at number 8 and Higher by Tems at No. 9. Terminator by Asake round out the top 10.

The U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart ranks the most popular Afrobeats songs in the United States and it is published weekly by Billboard. The chart ranks the 50 most popular songs every week. It is compiled by Billboard, and Afro Nation and measured from leading audio and video music services, plus download sales from top music retailers.

Bob Marley

Coming in at No. 1 on the Billboard Reggae Chart again this week is Legend: The Best Of Bob Marley & The Wailers. Shaggy’s Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection comes in at No. 2, and Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection took the no. 3 position. UB40’s Greatest Hits is at number 4 and Stick Figures take the number 5 and 6 positions with World On Fire and Set In Stone.  Making its debut at no. 7 this week is Spice’s independent release “Emancipated.” The sophomore project sold 700 copies and 1.1 million streams which is an equivalent of 1500 units according to data provided to World Music Views by music sales tracker Luminate.

Other albums on the chart are Musical Youth Anthology at number 8 and Koffee’s Gifted is at number 9.
