Bob Marley and The Wailers two-disc compilation album “Gold” has re-entered the Billboard reggae albums chart dated January 27, 2024 at No. 10. The album last made the chart in February during celebrations for Bob Marley’s birthday worldwide.
Released in 2005 on the Island Records “Gold” consist of 34 tracks with at least two songs from each of Bob Marley’s albums with the company. Encompassing tunes from the initial album, “Catch a Fire,” to the final release within Marley’s lifetime, “Uprising,” the compilation extends to include posthumous tracks like “Iron Lion Zion” and selections from “Confrontation.”
“Gold” is certified Gold in Canada and logs a total of 171 weeks on the US Billboard Reggae chart after peaking at No. 1. The cover was designed by Grammy winning art director Vartan Kurjian with consultancy from Neville Garrick.
Marley’s longstanding compilation “Legend: The Best Of Bob Marley and the Wailers” remains at No. 1 this week for 210 non-consecutive weeks.
Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics moves up on spot to No. 2, pushing Shaggy’s “Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection” to No. 3. Greatest Hits by UB40 at No. 4 while Stick Figure’s “World on Fire,” “Set In Stone,” ad “Wisdom” comes in at No. 5, 6, and 7 respectively.
“No Love” By Byron Messia movies up two spots No. 8 and Masicka’s “Generation Of Kings” holds on to the No. 9 spot. The album spends 7 weeks on the chart.
YG Marley’s “Praise Jah In The Moonlight” moves up to a new peak at No. 2 on the Billboard New Zealand Songs chart.
