‘Bob Marley: One Love’ Is The #1 Movie In America

Bob Marley: One Love” is the No. 1 film in America and is projected to gross $46.2M in Its Six-Day Opening Weekend (February 14-19).

The film produced by Paramount Pictures,Tuff Gong Pictures and Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B, earned $14 Million domestically in the U.S. on its Valentine Day opening,$3,861,583 on Thursday and $7,450,000 on Friday. Opening in 3,536 theaters, the biopic surpasses all midweek openers ever for Valentine’s Day, according to Paramount. The previous record was set in 2012 by The Vow which made $11.5 million.

With women making up 56 percent of theatre viewers, Black moviegoers making up 40 percent of Friday’s ticket  sales, followed by Latinos (25 percent), Caucasians (23 percent), Asians (5 percent) and Native Americans/Others (7 percent), according to PostTrak.

The power of the movie has transcended to Marley’s music catalog owned by Universal Music Group, as “Legend: The Best Of Bob Marley & The Wailers” climbs to No. 18 on the U.K. Official albums chart this week. The magnum opus set spends 1121 weeks on the chart, the second longest for any album. “Legend” released on 1984, is also at No. 5 on the U.S. iTunes Chart (all genres) and No. 6 on Worldwide iTunes chart.

The complete track listing for “Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired By The Film (Deluxe)” has also been unveiled, with a diverse array of modern interpretations of Marley’s timeless classics. From Shenseea’s soulful rendition of “No Woman No Cry” to infectious afrobeats “One Love” by Wizkid, this compilation album offers something for every music enthusiast. Here’s the full lineup:

Elsewhere on Spotify Marley’s Pimper’s Paradise from the Uprising album has surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify. it is the 16th track by Bob Marley and The Wailers to reach the accomplishment.

While at the top, Three Little Birds (1980) from the album Exodus (1977) has surpassed 900 million streams, his first to achieve the milestone. Overall Bob Marley & The Wailers has 9.3 billion streams on Spotify across all 595 credits, including collaborations.

They are the second most streamed Jamaican acts behind Sean Paul who has surpassed 10 billion streams on the platform.

In the U.S. Marley’s catalog has earned seven billion official on-demand streams according to Luminate and “Legend” is the second longest running album in the Billboard 200 Chart at 821 weeks.
