Bob Marley & The Wailers “Gold” Re-Enters The Billboard Reggae Albums Chart

The double disc compilation album “Gold” by Bob Marley and the Wailers has re-entered the Billboard Reggae albums chart at No. 10. The album released in 2005 spawns 17 tracks on each disc with songs from Marley’s first album “Catch A Fire” right up to his last recording “Uprising”.

The album is certified Gold on Canada for selling more than 40,000 units in that country.

With Marley’s birthday celebrations last week there was an uptick in his streams throughout the week and Whenever a song is played from these collections even if played from the original album, it goes towards to compilations weekly tally according to Adam Gross Vice President Of Ineffable Records.

Marley other longstanding compilation “Legend: The Best Of Bob Marley & The Wailers” returns to the top position for a record 162 weeks on the chart.

Other albums on the chart this week are Popcaan’s “Great Is He” which slips to No. 4 after spending most of the week atop the Reggae Apple Music chart. The album which occupies No. 1 positions on Apple Music Dominica and St Vincent and the Grenadines is being driven by the singles “We Caa Done” featuring Drake, “Next To Me” featuring Toni Ann Singh and “Aboboyaa” featuring Burna Boy.

Great Is He” has sold more than 15000 units in the U.S. so far after debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart last week. With 3200 album equivalent units in its first week, the OVO sound project has registered 300 pure album copies.

Popcaan

It is Popcaan’s weakest chart debut after his previous mixtapes and albums FIXTAPE(2020), Where We Come From(2014)Forever(2018) and Vanquish (2020) all debuted at No. 2 when they were released.

“Great Is He” did not make the Billboard 200 chart but it debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart last week.

This is the St. Thomas DJ’s second-full-length project through Drake’s OVO Sound imprint. His previous OVO set was FIXTAPE has so far sold 100,000 album equivalent units in the U.S. since its release on August 7, 2020.

“Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection”  is at No. 3, Dutty Classics by Sean Paul at No. 5.

Stick Figure’s Wisdom, World On Fire and Set In Stone all moved up on slot to 5, 7 and 8 respectively. UB40’s Greatest Hits at No. 6 and Koffee’s gifted moves up to No. 9.

On the Billboard Afrobeats Chart Rema & Selena Gomez’ Calm Down returns to the top spot after spending 47 weeks on the chart.
