Pop superstar Rihanna is once again lending her celebrity to a righteous cause. The singer announced on Thursday that she will be re-releasing her older music on Vinyl in a limited edition series. These vinyl releases however will be colored and trendy looking discs geared toward young people.
She shared a video with examples of the “Rih-Issue” below:
Although most artists do not bother to press physical copies of their music, the vinyl industry has experienced steady growth in the last 10 years with a boom in the last six months.
According to Statista, “Vinyl album sales in the United States have grown for the 15th consecutive year. In 2020, 27.5 million LPs were sold in the United States, up 46 percent compared to 2019 and more than 30-fold compared to 2006 when the vinyl (made its initial) comeback”
One artist that has always made vinyl copies of her music available upon release is Adele. Her record company Sony Music is still investing heavily invested in vinyl production ahead of her latest album “30” scheduled for November 19.
