2025 is poised to see the resurgence of authentic Jamaican reggae fusion bands as Jah Rockaz takes the lead and release their debut single, “Reggae Is Healing,” today, February 21, 2025.
Led by O’Brian Williams, formerly of the renowned reggae band Mystikal Revolution, Jah Rockaz aims to restore the essence of live reggae music, which has historically served as a vehicle for social commentary, unity, and cultural expression. Williams told WMV about the band’s mission saying: “Reggae music is more than just sound; it’s a movement, a voice for the people. We’re committed to bringing back the live band experience, which is the heart and soul of reggae.”
As for their debut track, “Reggae Is Healing” he says it is more than just a song; “it’s a call to action.” The track blends heavy bass lines and drum beats with psychedelic guitar riffs and echoing keyboards, creating an experience that resonates deeply with listeners. The lyrics convey messages of love, resilience, and hope, reflecting the band’s belief in music’s power to heal and unite.
To celebrate the release, Jah Rockaz will perform live at Supa Heavy Wednesdays at Janga’s Sound Bar & Grill in Kingston on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
