Burna Boy’s Last Last moves up 2 slots on the Billboard hot 100 this week at land at No. 70.
It is the No. 1 Afrobeats US chart song, No. 1 the Apple Music charts in Jamaica and peaks at No. 8 on the Billboard Top Triller Global chart.
His album ‘Love, Damini’ is #46 on this week’s Billboard 200 after selling an additional 14,000 units according to Luminate.
Only two albums by African acts have made their way to the Billboard-200 Top 40 for at least Two weeks. South African Trumpeter Hugh Masekela’s “The Promise of a Future” did in 1968 and Burna Boy “Love, Damini”.
Masekela was known for his jazz compositions and for writing anti-apartheid songs such as “Soweto Blues” and “Bring Him Back Home”. He also had a number-one US pop hit in 1968 with his version of “Grazing in the Grass”.
Elsewhere, “Love, Damini” sits returns to the No. 2 position on this week’s Billboard World Albums chart after 4 weeks.
Meanwhile in Jamaica, Skeng’s Likkle Miss and Gvnman Session is the No. 2 and No. 3 respectively on Apple Music. The latter moving up 11 slots.
Empty by Chronic Law is at No. 4 and Brysco’s 10th Floor at No. 5.
