Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, whose “Last Last” hit was must play at every sumner party is coming to Jamaica according to sources close to the matter.
There has been several posts on social media about the possibility of the Grammy winner performing in Jamaica for Christmas from as far back as August.
Here is what we know so far about Love, Damini Jamaica event:
Solid Agency CEO Sharon Burke posted earlier this month an image of Burna:
Burke posted another picture on Wednesday with Fire and asking persons to caption.
Another post popped on Twitter stating the Afro-fusion artist whose third studio album Outside re-entered the Billboard Reggae Albums chart at No. 9 this week, will be in the Caribbean this December.
The 31 year old singer reportedly costs USD$ 500,000 per show according to Africa Nation, plus a long list of requirements on his rider.
Burna who is friends with PopCaan requires a 13 seater challenger Jet according to a hospitality rider viewed by Africa.Nation. Specifically: “Private jet to be vetted by the management team prior to booking.”
In whatever city or country the African Giant is booked, upon arrival he is to be “picked up by a convoy of five vehicles, a Sprinter bus, a van and three SUVs. The transportation should be available to the artist for the duration of the trip.” That requirement is pretty standard for artists who go on tour.
Burna Boy who is the grandson of Benson Idonije, the manager to afrobeat pioneer Fela Kute was in fine style at his sold out Madison Square Garden debut in April.
With over 20 thousand strong in the New York City venue he performed his Afro-fusion hits for two nights back to back at his “One Night In Space” concert. The event was also live streamed on YouTube for millions of people around the world.
He is the first African solo headliner to sell out Madison Square Garden, let alone two shows. He follows the footsteps of Afropop singer Miriam Makeba who performed at Madison Square Garden for JFK’s birthday celebration in 1967.
Since then he has performed at several sold out shows around the world.
Persons on social media bask at the thought of having the Toni Ann Singh singer in the island. with some saying they’d pay north of $35,000 to see the leader of the Afrobeats movement.
Julian Jones Grififths, manager to Charlie Blacks and the one who organized for the Serani Burna Boy “Secret” collaboration, all but confirmed his coming to Jamaica December in a tween back in August.
Ticket prices should be revealed in the coming days according to sources close to the event who confirmed with WMV.
