Byron Messia’s “Talibans” Certified Silver In The UK

Dancehall artist Byron Messia’s “Talibans” is certified Silver in the U.K. For selling 200,000 units in that country. The award was issued by the British Phonographic Industry on Friday August 25, 2023.

The song is from the album “No Love” which is No. 3 on this week’s U.S. Billboard Reggae Albums chart dated August 5, 2023.

This is Messia’s first Britcertified song.

Talibans 2 (Remix) with Burna Boy entered the US Hot 100 at No. 99 marking the first time a St. Kitts dancehall artist has entered the Hot 100.

Burna Boy hopped on the Talibans 2 remix and the two dropped a music video that was recorded while the African Giant was on vacation in Jamaica. Talibans original debuted at No. 67 on the U.K.’s Official Charts in June and reached a peak of No. 12.

Talibans is the fists Trap Dancehall song to be certified in the U.K.

It is the second Trap Dancehall song to make the US Billboard chart following “Crocodile Teeth Remix” by Skillibeng and Nicki Minaj which spent one week at 100 in May 2021. At the time Skillibeng was the first Jamaican to hit the chart in four years.

The original music video for Talibans has surpassed 39 million streams on YouTube while the remix with Burna is at 4.5 million. The first video features a clothed Jada Kingdom shaking her bottom to the line “AK shake like Jada Kingdom,’ and in the remix Burna Boy drops the line “Me buy a Burnin for Jada Kingdom,” sparking speculations that the two are dating.

“No Love” which has 16 tracks is released on Ztekk Records.
