One day after her birthday, Camila Cabello’s new single “Bam Bam,” with Ed Sheeran and its accompanying music video, is a salsa infused ‘I am over you” hit.
“You said you hated the ocean, but you’re surfin’ now,” she sings.
“I said I’d love you for life, but I just sold our house.” It is a fun record as she “Bam Bam’s” back into the music industry. The music video story line is a single girl goes out with friends, have drinks, sings in the rain, and ends up at a girl next door dance party. Cliche but works if it heals. “I was barely standin’, but now I’m dancin’,” she sings over a jaunty Latin-pop track with a bit of help from old friend Ed Sheeran, her 2019’s “South of the Border” buddy.
Meanwhile her ex-boyfriend Sean Mendes was spotted in Hawaii with YouTube yogi Hitomi Mochizuki as the two engaged in an intimate ritual.
But from the sound of this new record the “Señorita singer is ready to moves on graciously, even if it means messing herself with a little wine, salsa and laundromat partying.
The 24 year old explained to Zane Lowe of Apple music why her relationship with Mendes didn’t last,
“My focus was just, how can I live a happy life and be in a healthy, happy relationship? I was doing therapy a lot. My focus really has shifted. And even now while I’m in promo mode, honestly, if I’m not having fun, what’s the f*cking point? I think as I get older, yeah, the priorities shift. And I feel like that was that way for both of us. Because we both started so young too, we’re really learning how to be healthy adults. And that sometimes means not having your number one focus be your career. And that’s okay.”
The Cuban-American singer’s last big song was the 2020 hit ‘My Oh My’ featuring DaBaby, and before that ‘Liar’. Her biggest hit was ‘Señorita‘ with Shawn which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
