The post drew comments across Twitter with one person saying, “She been petty. The details from hope road to his mother house lol.”
Bob Marley had several other women during their relationship which lasted until Marley’s untimely passing in 1981 at age 36. Cindy has stayed far from the “Bob Marley: One Love” premieres after she was seen posting images on set during the biopic’s production in Jamaica with actress Umi Myer.
Images from the set captured lead actor Kingsley Ben-Adir shooting scenes with upcoming British actress Umi Myers, portraying the role of Breakspeare.
Since then, neither Cindy nor her reggae superstar son Damian Marley has released any promotional material in support of the film, despite four premieres and a multi-million dollar promotion by Paramount across four countries. Without dropping spoilers, speculations are rife that the six-year relationship between her and Bob is not depicted in the final cut of “Bob Marley: One Love,” scheduled for release on February 14th.
The Instagram account of Marley’s enduring wife Rita Marley also made her own post with a duet with her and Bob with the caption: “Celebrating Bob’s birthday today with this duet we did in 1970 ‘ Hold On To This Feeling”
Happy birthday @bobmarley ❤️ XOXO”
Reflecting on her relationship with Marley in a 2021 interview with Yendi Phillips on her Odyssey talk show, Breakspeare acknowledged the taboo nature of their union but said she would not deny her relationship with Bob nor her son’s existence.
“We know we were in the right place and Damian is supposed to be here… I also understand very clearly that to deny him in any way or to deny the relationship I had with his father because of disapproval, he would never grow into the human being that I know he could be or that I wanted him to be… he was special, he was wanted, he was deliberate, and don’t let anybody tell you any different,” she said.
“People try to put limitations on you, but you have to know when to back them off. If I followed people over the years, girl, I’d be hiding. I know I will always be the uptown girl who crossed the invisible line in the sand, I understand that, but guess what, somebody has to do it, might as well be me.”
