Clive Hunt’s “Fields Of Gold: A Reggae Tribute To Sting” Hits Top 10 On The Reggae iTunes Chart

Clive Hunt’s “Fields Of Gold: A Reggae Tribute To Sting” has entered the top 10 on the Reggae iTunes chart. It is Hunts first album to hit the milestone.

The album features a star studded line up of reggae acts including Maxi Priest (Every Breathe You Take), The Elovators (Roxanne), Kumar (Message In A Bottle), J Boog (Shape Of My Heart) and the Skatalites (Desert Rose).

Speaking with World Music Views on Monday, Clive Hunt said, “I’m really happy about this—ecstatic, actually! It feels great to see the album doing so well. It’s a diverse collection of reggae, not just one style, and I’m pleased with the direction it’s going. The response so far has been amazing, and I truly hope it continues to grow. I love how people are embracing it. We made this album for all kinds of reggae lovers—like.”

The 12-track album features Third World on the title track, Fields of Gold, seamlessly blending the band’s signature sound with rich instrumentation and soulful harmonies. Third World’s Cat Coore praised the song, calling it one of Sting’s finest works.

Originally inspired by the golden barley fields near Sting’s English manor, Fields of Gold was recorded in his home studio without overdubs, capturing the raw emotion of a love story from its uncertain beginnings—“You’ll remember me when the west wind moves.”

Paul McCartney once admitted he wished he had written the song. Now, Clive enlists Third World to reimagine it in a reggae style. The timeless ballad has also been covered by artists such as Eva Cassidy and Katie Melua.

Other stand out tracks on the set is Steele Pulse on So Lonely and Fragile with Jack Radics and Big Youth. Hunt explains that although it’s a Sting cover album he wanted to cater to the deep roots reggae sound. “The Jack Radics and Big Youth track are for those who appreciate that deep, roots reggae sound, while the Renae and Jermi song appeals to a younger crowd. It’s exciting to see it resonating across different audiences and making an impact in the wider market.”
