Daddy Yankee Releases New Gospel Song ‘LOVEO,’ His Second In As Many Months

Daddy Yankee releases new gospel song LOVEO, his second since converting to Christianity in November.

The born again artist shared this message translated to English to promote the song,

“Family! It’s now available on all platforms #LoVEO ❤️ This song has a very special meaning for me. Just as I told you, I hope that when you listen to it, it fills your spirit, your soul, and puts you in a good tune with the spiritual and with the Lord ✝️

God bless you ✨

The Latin singer premiered a thematic music video on his YouTube channel, boasting 38 million subscribers, on Friday (May 3). The song has garnered over 300,000 views, falling short of the 24-hour streaming record set by his collaboration with Luis Fonsi on “Despacito,” which achieved a staggering 5.4 million streams globally in a single day.

Yankee’s first gospel song was “Blood Donor” released on Good Friday, a song about how the blood of Jesus saved his life. Praise God!

The lyrics delve deeply into the theme of salvation, the role of divine grace and redemption through the shedding of Jesus’ blood. He boldly asserts,

“No one but Jesus bears my cross, No one extinguishes my light, No one saves me in the final judgment, only Jesus. With Him, there is no fear; He watches over me, With His power, He breathes life into me.”

This decision to become a Christian, made public during his farewell tour, La Meta, took many people in the industry by surprise after he earned worldly success with hits like “Gasolina” and “Con Calma,” featuring Snow. However,  Daddy Yankee expressed a sense of spiritual fulfillment in embracing his newfound faith saying, “Family: This day for me, is the most important day in my life.. tonight I recognize and am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Christ lives in me and that I will live for him. This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of a brand new one.”

The announcement coincides with his involvement in a copyright infringement case regarding the use of the “Fish Market Riddim” in numerous reggaeton songs, including his own by dancehall pioneer Clevie who is also a converted Christian.
