Daddy Yankee’s $80m Lawsuit Against His Wife Mireddys González Settled

On December 20, 2024, Daddy Yankee, his estranged wife Mireddys González, and her sister Ayeicha González Castellano reached a settlement in a legal dispute that had attracted widespread attention. The case, which began earlier this month, revolved around allegations of unauthorized financial transactions involving Daddy Yankee’s business accounts.

In early December, the Puerto Rican reggaeton legend announced his divorce from Mireddys González, and shortly after, it was revealed that he had filed a lawsuit against her and Ayeicha. According to the lawsuit, the two women attempted to withdraw $100 million from Daddy Yankee’s companies, El Cartel Records and El Cangris, without his permission. The lawsuit alleged that the sisters had been removed from their administrative roles prior to attempting these transactions, although the attempts were unsuccessful.

The legal action sought to prevent Mireddys and Ayeicha from making any further decisions or financial disbursements from Daddy Yankee’s companies without his involvement and approval. Daddy Yankee requested that the court issue an order barring them from accessing or managing company assets or rights without his consent.

During the hearing held at the Judicial Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on December 20, the parties came to an agreement. As part of the settlement, Daddy Yankee will resume his position as president of both El Cartel Records and El Cangris. The changes will officially take place on December 26, 2024, during a scheduled meeting.

The terms of the agreement include a provision that $75 million from both corporations will remain “untouchable” for the next 30 days. The remaining funds are held in escrow, with both parties agreeing to review and approve any transactions exceeding $100,000. Additionally, Daddy Yankee will issue monthly financial reports as part of his presidential duties at both companies.

Speaking to the press after the hearing, Daddy Yankee addressed the situation with a calm demeanor, expressing that the public interpretations of the events were not reflective of his personal feelings. “I have always respected Mrs. González. I ask you with much gentleness to respect her,” he said in Spanish. Mireddys González, however, chose not to comment on the matter when approached by the media.
