Police carried out a search of the St Andrew residence of dancehall entertainer Aidonia, born Sheldon Lawrence, earlier today as part of a series of coordinated operations across the St Andrew North Police Division.
According to the Jamaica Gleaner, police targeted individuals suspected of criminal activity and illegal firearm possession. While no illegal items were reportedly found at Aidonia’s home, two persons present at the residence were taken into custody and are now under investigation.
Authorities confirmed that multiple premises across the division were simultaneously searched. One individual arrested during the operations is expected to be charged for a breach of the Firearms Act.
Last week the dancehall star was pulled from Canada’s Soul Food Ultra Caribbean Festival, citing unresolved Canadian visa issues.
In a social media statement, the festival team said:
“Despite our best efforts and working closely with all stakeholders, including the Canadian and Jamaican governments, unfortunately we were unable to secure his Canadian visa.”
