Jamaican-American rapper turned deejay Safaree Samuels is the only Jamaican in the top ten earners on the explicit subscription media platform Onlyfans.

The Love & Hip Hop star who recently sampled Harry Belafonte’s 1961 hit “Jump in the Line (Shake, Senora) for his dancehall chorus lead song “Hot Gyal Bday” made on average US$1.9 million per month on the platform in 2021, making him the 8th most bankable OnlyFans celebrity creator. Safaree’s ex-wife and Love & Hip Hop costar Erica Mena is ranked at no. 6 in the top earnings with 4.9 million per month or US$58,000,000 per year on the website.

The top earner according to research publisher Statista, is Blac Chyna who banked $20 million per month in 2021. Chyna, charges a monthly subscription rate of $19.99, which gives users exclusive access to a mix of NSFW photos and videos.

Going by those numbers her earnings is a quarter of a billion dollars in 2021 alone. Chyna cried that she earned significantly less money during her ultimately unsuccessful court battle against the Kardashians earlier this year. TMZ reported in April that the case revealed Chyna’s “main moneymaker” seems to be OnlyFans, on which she claims she’s made $1 million,” adding that her income was $2 million in 2020, 2019, and 2018.

The 34-year-old spoke about her decision to join the platform during a 2020 interview with Baller Alert, saying she was using the income to expand her career and support her family.

Statista reported that actress and creator Bella Thorne ranked second, with an estimate of 11 million U.S. dollars earned per month on the platform. Rapper Cardi B followed, with 9.34 million U.S. dollars in revenues on OnlyFans in 2021.

Other Jamaican stars with Onlyfans account include Macka Diamond, D’Angel, and Ishawna.

D’Angel’s OnlyFans has 415 media posts and her monthly subscription fee is US$19.99 per month at the lower end and US$215.89 with a 10% discount per year. The Baby Father artist joined Onlyfans in 2020 and she says her reason for joining the pay per subscription platform was to pay her bills at the height of the pandemic according to her.

When contacted via whatsapp messages by World Music Views about her 2021 OnlyFans earnings D’Angel was mum on the dollar value and said, “Not talking about this topic anymore i’m not their spokesperson lol.”

However she said in an interview with The Fix podcast that “Nuff a dem a do ting fi free and nah get pay fi it, at least goal a get pay for what me a do.”

In August 2021 she bought a brand new J$14,000,000 BMW reportedly from the proceeds of her exploits on the website. Without revealing exactly how much she made Dancehall Mag reported that the ex-wife of dancehall king Beenie Man revealed that she’s been raking in big bucks via OnlyFans.

Ishawna told Winford Williams of Onstage, that despite the stigma of OnlyFans being for porn stars and sex workers, she is making million on the nudity driven platform.

“I know OnlyFans has a big stigma… but I have made millions. I am a multi-millionaire again from OnlyFans, and I did that without having to be doing anything out of the norm,” she explained.

Dancehall pop hopeful Shenseea joked that deep down she wants some off the OnlyFans money in August 2020. She posted, “I act like i’m ok, but deep down I want some of that OnlyFans money.”

Meanwhile the owner of OnlyFans Ukrainian-American businessman Leonid Radvinsky has been paid more than $500 million since 2020, Bloomberg reported. Radvinsky received dividends amounting to $284m in 2021 and $233m after November 2021, the company stated in its annual report.

The adult entertainment site enjoyed a boom in its user base last year, with content creators raking in almost $4bn in 2021, per the report. It also features non-adult content from celebrities such as rapper Cardi B and DJ Khaled for paying fans.

“We are empowering creators to monetize their content and have real control over it,” Amrapali Gan, chief executive of OnlyFans, told the BBC.

Gan, who had been at the company since 2020, took over as CEO in December 2021 after Tim Stokely stepped down.

The London-based company was founded in 2016 by Stokely before he sold a 75% stake to Radvinsky, 40, two years later.

The Florida-based business figure keeps a low public profile but has run porn websites for more than two decades through his company Cybertania, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

In August last year the platform announced it would ban sexually explicit content but reversed the decision six days later following an outcry from sexworkers who use the site and other creators.

The company laid off an unspecified number of employees last month to “reshape certain teams”, it told Insider in a statement.
