David Cairol & Judy Mowatt Unite for Soulful Reggae Anthem “Echoes From The Jungle”

French reggae singer David Cairol has teamed up with reggae legend Judy Mowatt for a new single, Echoes From The Jungle. The song, produced by Matthieu Bost of the acclaimed duo Bost & Bim, blends acoustic reggae with dub influences, creating a mesmerizing soundscape that pays homage to Jamaica’s deep reggae roots.

Mowatt, celebrated for her groundbreaking 1977 anthem Black Woman, revisits the classic melody in Echoes From The Jungle, infusing it with new energy while maintaining the powerful essence of the original. The track is featured on Cairol’s 2023 album, Vers(e), which showcases his deep appreciation for reggae and his strong ties to Jamaica.

The French-Jamaican Reggae Connection

Cairol is well-known in France’s thriving reggae scene, which is recognized as one of the largest reggae markets outside of Jamaica.

Reggae music is more popular than in any other European country, according to Luminate’s 2024 Midyear Music Industry Report. The genre is more listened than R&B/Hip Hop and Jazz in the country.

The French singer-songwriter has built strong connections in Jamaica, frequently collaborating with local artists and working with the French Embassy to promote cultural exchange.

His previous work includes a popular collaboration with Yellowman, another reggae icon, on the track Last Bus, which has 242,000 views on YouTube.

Echoes From The Jungle is Cairol’s first collab with Judy Mowatt, a trailblazer in reggae and a member of Bob Marley’s backing trio, The I-Threes. Her contribution to this song reflects her deep connection to reggae’s roots while introducing her timeless sound to a fresh audience.
