Award winning media personality and Tv Host Debbie Bissoon is set to return as host for Reggae Night at Reggae Sumfest 2025, marking her second year gracing the stage at Jamaica’s premier music festival.
Speaking exclusively to World Music Views, Bissoon described the opportunity as a full-circle moment in her career.
“It’s a blessing. It’s an honor to return to Reggae Sumfest. The first time was truly mind-blowing — that stage has hosted the greatest Jamaican and international talents,” she said. “Since then, I’ve grown not just in my craft but in my love and appreciation for our music and culture.”
This year’s Reggae Night will feature performances from standout acts like Lila Iké, Protoje, Tarrus Riley, and more — a lineup that Bissoon says reflects the strength and evolution of the genre.
“Reggae is in a good place culturally. We’re seeing young voices creating their own lanes while honoring the legacy of those before them,” she noted. “Dancehall, lead by Vybz Kartel is showing out globally, and reggae is moving right along with it.”
Adding to the magic of the night is the presence of Toni Braxton, who headlines the festival’s Night Two. For Bissoon, it’s her second time sharing the stage with the R&B legend.
“The first time was at Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, and she came with her sisters. Toni Braxton has always been an icon — her music has told our stories. It’s an honor to host again with her in the lineup.”
Bissoon’s journey with Reggae Sumfest started long before she ever took the mic on stage.
“I remember covering the event as press in my early days, running backstage, interviewing artists. Hosting felt out of reach then — but as I embraced my gift as an MC, I began to see myself on stages like this.”
Now recognized not just for her voice but for her standout fashion, fans are eager to see what she’ll wear this year.
“I haven’t finalized my look yet, but I’m planning to wear something locally made. Jamaican designers are incredibly talented, and I want to represent that on stage.”
Following Sumfest, Bissoon has her eyes set on international stages, with potential bookings already in discussion.
“I’m open and accessible,” she says. “I’m looking forward to wherever God takes me next.”
