Dexta Daps‘ third studio album aptly titled ‘Trilogy’ peaks at No. 2 in Jamaica during the first three days of its release. The album is being held off from entering the top spot by Masicka’s sophomore album ‘Generation Of King’ released by Def Jam which has spent a record 38 days at No. 1 since its December 8 release.
“Trilogy,” released independently by Dexta Daps Music Group follows the release of his debut project, “Intro,” in 2017, featuring the infamous erotic Intro Short Film for the single “Bring It To The Owna.” In 2020, he dropped “VENT,” a 16-track album that reached No. 10 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. His second Billboard entry, “Bop,” a collaboration with Davido, peaked at No. 22 on the US Afrobeats Songs chart.
Producers on “Trilogy,” include TJ Records and Joey 2kool. The lead single for the album, “Forever,” released January 2023 already has surpassed 7 million views on YouTube.
Elsewhere “Trilogy” peaks at No. 1 in St. Kitts and Nevis and Anguilla on Apple Music. It is also No. 1 on iTunes Grenada.
In December Dexta Daps born Louis Anthony Grandison Jr. launched the ‘Trilogy Tour’ at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre delivering electrifying performances and bringing out some of his star-studded collaborators. The first leg in Kingston was a hit, marked by cheers and screams until police ended the event abruptly at 2 a.m.
The tour featured special acts, including dancehall legends Cham and Bounty Killer, who engaged in a thrilling song-versus-song clash.
Elsewhere in Apple Music Jamaica Jada Kingdom’s “What’s Up (Big Buddy)” spends a third day at No. 1. This is her longest stint at the top with any single.
