DJ Akademiks says Kanye West is paranoid and believes “they” are out to get him.
“Texting with Kanye is ridiculous,” Akademiks began. “I flew all the way to Los Angeles expecting to do this big interview with him. Then he checks into a hotel, and someone texts him, saying, ‘If you feel unsafe, go to a hotel.’”
Shortly after, Kanye messaged him directly. “He texts me saying, ‘They’re trying to put me in a hospital. They’re trying to kill me. I might have to get out of here. I might have to go to Japan.’”
Ye then gave Akademiks an ultimatum—either the interview happened immediately, or he was off to Japan.
“Fifteen minutes later, he texts again: ‘I have to leave at 10.’ I reply, ‘I’ll get there at 9:20—we’ll have 40 minutes to do the interview.’”
A visibly nervous Akademiks approached Kanye’s West Hollywood location, filled with questions about the bizarre turn of events.
When they finally met, Ye greeted him at the hotel wearing a black Sean John T-shirt featuring a crossed white hammer and sickle, reminiscent of the Soviet flag. Then, as he had warned via text, he changed into a black KKK-style hoodie.
The interview with Ye and AK follows a month of antiemetic and abusive language by Kanye West directed towards, Jews, Jay-Z and Beyonce’s children, Kendrick Lamar and more.
“I really wanted wear it yesterday but I thought they would put me in a hospital for my outfit, you know what I am saying, they will put me in a hospital for my outfit,” he repeated.
As for who “they” are, Ye says it all began when he started speaking about his children. “I definitely feel like I was pushing life to the limit by pushing it to the truth. They push other agendas in the media that they want us to focus on and I don’t know who the people are,” he admits.
“I am wiling to die for my children” Kanye professed.
