Music has long been an integral part of the FIFA World Cup™, setting the tone for unforgettable moments in football history. For the 2026 edition—the biggest FIFA World Cup™ ever, with 48 teams competing across 104 matches in Canada, Mexico, and the United States—FIFA is taking things to the next level. The global football governing body has launched an innovative project that blends the universal language of music with the rich cultural heritage of its 16 Host Cities: the FIFA World Cup 26™ Sonic IDs.
This first-of-its-kind initiative brings together some of the most talented and influential producers from each Host City including DJ Jazzy Jeff of Fresh Prince Of Bel Air fame, to create bespoke Sonic IDs—audio brands that uniquely represent their communities while embodying the spirit of the tournament. By remixing the Official FIFA World Cup 26™ Theme, these producers have infused their city’s distinct rhythm, energy, and cultural essence into a dynamic soundscape that resonates locally and globally.
Jazzy Jeff posted Instagram, “I’m super excited to celebrate the Sound of Philadelphia as part of the @fifaworldcup Sonic ID. Be on the lookout for the full drop on March 13. Big s/o to @kaiditatham and @valvinvroane for working with me on this one.
The #FIFAWorldCup Sonic ID is a 16-track playlist celebrating the unique sounds of each host city.”
Beginning on Saturday, March 1, and continuing through Sunday, March 16, FIFA will unveil a new Host City Sonic ID and its accompanying visualizer each day. This daily rollout builds excitement for the tournament while giving fans an immersive auditory journey into the heart and soul of each Host City.
