Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s groundbreaking hip hop bop The Next Episode has hit number 1 on the digital sales chart for the first time. The track has sold 20 thousand units since their Super Bowl Half Time Performance last week (February 13).
“The Next Episode” was released long before the digital era of music on June 26, 2000 as the third single from Dre’s second studio album, 2001 (1999) on Aftermath/Interscope records. The track also features Kurupt and Nate Dogg, but only Snoop Dogg is credited. It is a sequel to Dre and Snoop’s famous single “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” from the cultura classic album, The Chronic.
The song peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and 11 on the R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart.
Currently both the song and music video sits at number 1 on the Itunes Hip Hop chart while the album 2001 sits at number 3.
