A popular Jamaican restaurant in Toronto, Randy’s Patties has announced that they’ll be closing as of today Feb. 26. That news didn’t sit well with God’s Plan rapper Drake, so he expressed openly on Instagram his interest in buying the Jamaican Patty spot because it’s one of his food favorite.

Complex Canada, reported after Tyrone Edwards made the announcement of the closing, Canadians dropped comments expressing their deep disappointment online. Drake, always keeping his ears to the streets enquired about the iconic Jamaican establishment.

“I’ll buy Randy’s right now,” he said via Instagram.

His response started a series of comments from Randy’s Patties fans backing his statement, including from Edwards’ himself who said: “Soon link you, trying to get ahold of someone over there.”

There has been no official confirmation as yet on the “link up”.

Randy’s Jamaican Patties

Randy’s Patties has been in Toronto for over 40 years. Their reported closure is due to the impact of COVID-19 along with other factors.

“Due to a variety of issues, including years of endless Metrolinx construction, 2 years of COVID, labour shortages, and aging owners, we have decided to close our doors and re-evaluate our next steps going forward,” the restaurant wrote in an official statement via Instagram.

Drake’s Ventures

If Drake takes up ownership of the Toronto Jamaican Patty company, it wouldn’t be the first time for the rapper and businessman to course correct a business when it was about to end.

Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett stated that Drake rescued the British Channel 4 show after it was cancelled following two seasons, which originally aired in 2011 and 2013, Per daily Mail
