In a time when artists like Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Nelly and others are selling the rights to their music, today, it was announced that Dua Lipa has acquired the rights to her publishing catalog from TaP Music Publishing according to Pitchfork. This development comes more than a year after Dua, who was previously associated with TaP’s artist management branch, parted ways with the company in February 2022. Since then, her father, Dukagjin Lipa, has been managing her.
TaP Music Publishing issued a statement expressing their best wishes for Dua’s future. Anna Neville, TaP’s co-president, also mentioned their excitement for the expansion of their publishing company, with a focus on global growth and the addition of talented writers and artists to their roster.
“This is an exciting time for our publishing company — we are expanding our services and teams globally and continue to add talented writers and artists to our already stellar roster,” Neville stated.
Dua Lip now owns the rights to both the masters and the publishing of her entire catalog per Music Week.
Furthermore, Dua Lipa recently unveiled her new song “Houdini,” marking her first release since the “Dance the Night” track from the Barbie soundtrack. She is also set to appear in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming film, Argylle. Dua Lipa has indicated that her next album is slated for a 2024 debut.
Lipa’s self titled album and “Future Nostalgia” are the number 1 and No. 2 most streamed albums by a female on Spotify as of November 2, 2023.
