Dua Lipa has reportedly decided to withdraw a high-budget music video, worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, due to concerns about its sensitivity amid the Israel-Hamas war where Israel has began ground-combat in central Gaza. The 28-year-old singer had apparently shot the video secretly, featuring scenes of explosions, chaotic crowds, and fighting. According to a music insider speaking to The Sun, emergency meetings were held within Dua Lipa’s team, leading to the decision to pull the video per National Post.
The video, shot last September, was described as having playful elements but also included themes of chaos, such as car crashes, demolition, explosions, fireworks, and crowds in conflict. Dua Lipa and her team deemed it inappropriate for release, considering the events that unfolded since October 7, when the terror group Hamas launched an attack on Israel, resulting in significant casualties and sparking the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
The big-budget production, featuring hundreds of extras, was originally planned to coincide with the release of Dua Lipa’s third studio album in 2024. The singer had expressed her concern for the situation in Israel and Palestine in a statement on Instagram in October, calling for a ceasefire and urging governments to address the humanitarian crisis.
The report does not specify which track was associated with the withdrawn video. Dua Lipa’s first single from the upcoming album was ‘Houdini,’ released in November.
