Ed Sheeran has been in a festive Jamaican music mood lately after he lauded Ishawna’s remix version of Shape of You; ‘Equal Right’ during an interview with Qmusic Nederland.
Fast forward this year, Ed is in the company of grime artist Jaykae at The Roost Pub in Small Heath Birmingham. The two were pouring draft beer, playing pool and casually chorusing dancehall artist Serani’s No Games. Ed even shows off his rhythm with few dance moves.
The Daseca produced single was released in 2008 and climbed to the top of the Billboard R&B and Hip-Hop top 100 charts in 2009. It has been sampled by Eminem, Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee – Despacito Remix ft. Justin Bieber (SING OFF vs. Pixie Lott) by Conor Maynard (Ft. Pixie Lott) & Farewell by Eminem on his Music To Be Murdered By Album.
Two official music videos were released for this song, and although Serani is yet to perform the song in the UK due to visa issues, the track has invaded the Britain’s pop culture scene.
No Games was recently certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry(BPI), after selling more than 400,000 copies.
In 2019, the Dave Kelly’s showtime sampled dancehall hit appeared in Kylie Jenner’s 140 million strong Instagram stories as she celebrated her friend’s birthday.
“I’m a fan of Ed Sheeran. It’s amazing that he loves my music too. The intention is always to make music that connects with the soul. The way everyone in that pub’s energy was lifted during no games is an energy boost,” he said.
Ed Sheeran in an interview with the Halfcast Podcast, said it was Ishawna’s influence that has him singing in Patois.
“Ishawna’s got me singing Patois with her. I was like ‘I don’t know’ and she was like ‘trust me. Kingston slang; they’re gonna fuckin love it’,” Sheeran told host Chuckie Online.

Sheeran’s latest single Bam Bam with Camilla Cabello entered the top ten on Uk Spotify today after a month of its release. Last year Forbes reported that Shape Of You was the most streamed song in Spotify history, gaining over 3 billion streams, more than any other song on the platform. He is nominated for 9 Billboard Music Awards including top male artist.
