“Eternal Sunshine” by Ariana Grande breaks Masicka‘s “Generation Of Kings” three month streak at the top on Apple Music Jamaica.
“Generation Of Kings” released by Def Jam on December 1, 2023 is the longest running number one album on Apple Music Jamaica of all time. The album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae albums chart.
Grande’s seventh studio album release, which came out on March 8, 2024, under Republic Records debuted at No. 1 in 100 countries around the world on Apple Music. The album blends R&B and pop with dance influences and features production by Grande, Max Martin, Ilya Salmanzadeh, and Oscar Görres, among others.
The lead single, “Yes, And?”, released a month ago debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, followed by the second single, “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)“, released alongside the album already reached number 1 in five countries including Brunei Darussalam, Kyrgyzstan, Malta, Mexico, and Paraguay.
The album title draws inspiration from the 2004 film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, with Grande intending to create a record that balances vulnerability with entertainment. Grande promoted the album on various platforms, including appearances on programs hosted by Zach Sang and Zane Lowe, and she’s scheduled to perform on Saturday Night Live on March 9, 2024.
Grande’s collaboration with producer Max Martin shaped eleven tracks on the album. She began work on the project in September 2023, pausing briefly due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. The recording and production processes unfolded rapidly, with Grande handling production herself alongside Martin. The album’s composition combines pop and R&B with elements of dance music, featuring mid-tempo synths, strings, and muted guitar, imparting a “slow-fizz pop” vibe, according to some critics.
