Shenseea talks working with Norwegian producer-songwriter duo, Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel S. Eriksen known as Stargate who are producers on her second studio album “Never Gets Late Here.”
In a one-on-one interview with Jamaica’s leading female star set for release on YouTube on Friday, Shenseea shared, “It was fun working with Stargate. They’re so down to earth and they understand the music. What I like about them is I was singing in my English sound and they were like, ‘No, use the patois,’ and I love that because they embraced my authenticity.”
Since her debut in the music industry, the Jamaican singer has been clear about her ambitions to pursue “bigger dreams.” On her second album, “Never Gets Late Here,” she is achieving just that by working with the Grammy Award-winning producers. The duo is celebrated for their extensive work with artists like Rihanna, Sean Paul, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and Ne-Yo, and for creating ten Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits, along with numerous multi-platinum R&B, pop, and hip-hop records.
“I am like, I am in the right room, cause all my favorites, you guys have done them,” Shenseea added about the duo who she recorded music with as far back as 2022.
Stargate the hitmakers behind seven of Rihanna’s eight studio albums, excluding the acclaimed 6x Platinum album Anti (2016). Their notable hits with Rihanna include “Take a Bow” (6x Platinum), “Rude Boy” (5x Platinum), “Only Girl In The World” (7x Platinum), “What’s My Name” (6x Platinum), “S&M” (5x Platinum), “Diamonds” (Diamond), “Unfaithful” (3x Platinum), “Don’t Stop The Music” (6x Platinum), and “Hate That I Love You” with Ne-Yo (2x Platinum).
They have also produced Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable” (5x Platinum), Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” (6x Platinum), Katy Perry’s “Firework” (12x Platinum), and Ne-Yo’s “So Sick” (Platinum), “Sexy Love” (3x Platinum), “Miss Independent” (Platinum), and “Because Of You” (2x Platinum). Their impressive portfolio includes work with Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Nas, Chris Brown, Khalid, and many others since their formation in 1996.
Stargate also co-wrote and produced Sean Paul’s “Got 2 Luv U” with Alexis Jordan, “How Deep Is Your Love” with Kelly Rowland, and “Put It On You” on Paul’s Tomahawk Technique (2011) album. For Beenie Man’s Tropical Storm (2002) album, they worked on “Street Life.”
Other producers on Shenseea’s “Never Gets Late Here” include, Rvssian, Supa Dupes, Chimney, Romeich Major, London On The Track, and Supa Mario.
The Interscope artist also revealed to WMV that “Never Gets Late Here” has a hidden feature. The album set for release May 24 has 14 tracks, 5 of which will have features and the hidden feature will be on Track 1, titled Facelift, a titled suggesting a new beginning.
Titles on the album executive produced by Hip Hop/R&B producer London On The Track like ‘Loyalty,’ ‘Heaven On Earth,’ ‘Die For You’ and ‘Red Flag’ suggest the album will be heavily focused on themes of love, commitment and warning sings in relationships.
The fashion forward 27 year old Shenseea released a preview of her collaboration with Wizkid titled “Work Me Out” inWednesday while wearing the unreleased Adidas Jamaica away kit.
On Friday Shenseea will be having a meet and greet in New York former fans in the Big Apple.
