Isaac Freeman III popularly known as Fatman Scoop, has died at age 53 on August 31, 2024. The hype man experienced a medical emergency while performing in Hamden, Connecticut, on Friday night.

Hamden mayor Lauren Garrett shared the news on social media yesterday, revealing that Scoop, was performing at Hamden Town Center Park when he suffered the emergency. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Garrett added, “We will provide updates when they are available. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.”
Footage shared on X shows Scoop collapsing behind the DJ booth as the music abruptly stops, while another performer attempts to calm the crowd. Onlookers quickly rushed to his aid as the atmosphere shifted from lively to concerned.
Fatman Scoop has collaborated with artist from all over the word including Jamaican dancehall deejay Elephant Man on the track “U Sexy Girl” with Jabba. That song pealed at No. 93 on the Billboard Hip Hop/ R&B Chart.
He found fame with his 1999 hit “Be Faithful,” featuring the Crooklyn Clan and contributed to Missy Elliott’s hit “Lose Control” alongside Ciara, which peaked at Number Three on the Billboard Hot 100. The music video won a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video, and the song was nominated for Best Rap Song.
Additionally, Scoop collaborated with Mariah Carey on her 2005 track “It’s Like That,” which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Earlier this month, in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, A$AP Rocky mentioned that his upcoming album Don’t Be Dumb features a track called “Hood Happy,” which includes Fatman Scoop, Morrissey, Busta Rhymes, Flavor Flav, and Slick Rick.
