Last month Drake dropped “For All The Dogs,” and the album went to No. 1 on both the US and UK charts despite criticisms from podcaster Joe Budden. While supporters initially believed the Toronto native would take a break after the album’s release, he surprised them shortly thereafter with the deluxe edition of the album, titled “For All the Dogs Scary Hours Edition,” featuring six brand-new tracks.
The release was immediately well-received, with numerous fans asserting that “Scary Hours” provided what they felt was missing from “For All The Dogs.” Now, the album has reclaimed its throne, securing the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for a second non-consecutive week.
Over the last week ending Nov 23, the album amassed an additional 145,000 equivalent album units, predominantly from streaming (up 102%) according to Luminate. All versions of the album are combined for tracking and charting purposes according to Billboard.
Following the release of “For All the Dogs Scary Hours Edition,” Drake’s eight studio album, the OVO rapper also dropped instrumental versions of the “Scary Hours 3” tracks, challenging other artists to showcase their rap skills over them. This resulted in a response from Fabolous, who laid down some impressive bars. Scary Hours is also the No. 1 album in 17 countries including on Apple Music including Jamaica, Bahrain, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, Egypt, Grenada, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
Elsewhere on this week’s Billboard 200 rankings, Dolly Parton album “Rockstar” securing the No. 3 position, marking her highest-charting album to date and her third entry into the top 10. The Billboard 200 chart gauges album rankings based on a combination of album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
Parton’s “Rockstar” debuted with an impressive 128,000 equivalent album units for the week ending Nov. 23. The album’s triumph can be attributed to robust sales, with 118,500 copies sold, 8,000 SEA units, and 1,500 TEA units. This milestone not only represents Parton’s most significant week in terms of units since the chart’s shift to unit measurement in December 2014 but also marks her most substantial sales week in the modern era, surpassing her previous record set in 1993 with “Slow Dancing With the Moon.”
The star-studded “Rockstar” is promoted as Parton’s inaugural rock album, a departure from her predominantly country music career spanning nearly six decades. The album, inspired by Parton’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, features a diverse lineup of 40 guest stars, including Pat Benatar, Miley Cyrus, Elton John, and many more
Taylor Swifts “1989 (Taylor’s Version)”, “Midnight” “Lover” and Folklore are at No. 2, No. 6, No. 8 and No. 9 respectively. “ORANGE BLOOD” by ENHYPEN at No. 4, “One Thing At A Time” by Morgan Wallen at No. 6.
