Devam by German reggae singer Gentleman (feat. Luciano and Ezhel) has surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify.
The Jugglerz produced track released independently is Gentleman’s first song to reach the milestone, Luciano’s fourth and Ethel’s seventh. The title of the song is was choses by Turkish rapper Ezhel meaning continuation. It is the fourth single from Gentleman’s 13th album which peaked at No. 9 in Germany, 27 in Australia and 48 in Switzerland.
Luciano, not to be confused with the Jamaican reggae singer is a German- Mozambican rapper based in Berlin.

In 2020 when he was promoting the deluxe version of the album Gentleman said he found success even through language barriers between non-English speaking countries because, “The melody itself is a language and throughout the melody we can create a certain exchange. The person who doesn’t understand the language can also understand the vibe.”
He further stated that “Energy is very important and artists should have an emotional connection to every song”.
Gentleman’s started out in the music business through a collaboration with the band Freundeskreis, producing the song “Tabula Rasa.” Starting out as a deejay, Gentleman embraced the roots reggae style reminiscent of Bob Marley. He sings in German on Devam but often sings in Jamaican Patois on tracks like “Send a Prayer.”
In 2004, Gentleman’s album “Confidence” soared to the top of the German album charts. The same year, he was featured on Toots and the Maytals’ Grammy Award-winning album “True Love.” In 2005, Gentleman teamed up with Mamadee to perform “Lass los” at the Bundesvision Song Contest, representing North Rhine-Westphalia and securing a 15th place finish.
